At Century Convenience on Century Road
Spruce Grove's Bitcoin4U machine is inside Century Convenience, the corner store of the Century Landing plaza. Century Road runs between Highway 16A and the Yellowhead, so you can reach it from either highway, and there is parking right in front. The white kiosk stands by the freezer doors and sells Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USD Coin, Solana and XRP for Canadian bills. It is run by Bitcoin4U, a cryptocurrency exchange based in Canada.
Closer to home for the Tri-Region
It is the nearest Bitcoin4U machine for most people in the Tri-Region (Spruce Grove, Stony Plain next door and the acreages of Parkland County), who would otherwise drive to the machine in west Edmonton. One ID check covers both, and every other Bitcoin4U machine in the country.
Cash suits a quick stop: pick up milk or snacks, feed the kiosk the bills you have on you, and nothing about the purchase goes through your bank or your cards. You can only buy at this kiosk, though. If you would rather pay straight from your bank account, the e-Transfer buy page takes an order from home, and turning coins back into dollars happens on the sell page, with the money sent to you by Interac e-Transfer.
Questions about the Century Road kiosk
There are two machines by the freezers. Which one sells Bitcoin?
The white Bitcoin4U kiosk with the touchscreen and the NOT A CASH ATM label. The grey machine beside it is a separate bank machine for withdrawing cash with a bank card. Ours takes bills in and sends coins to the wallet you scan; it never pays cash out and does not take cards.
What should I have with me?
Cash, plus a phone with a wallet app already set up; our guide to the best cryptocurrency wallets in Canada helps you pick one. If this is your first purchase with Bitcoin4U, have your government photo ID handy too: the ID check runs on your phone and takes about a minute for most people. Daily limits go up to $40,000. The kiosk prints no receipt; it is emailed to the address on your account, and if there is none on file you can request a receipt online.
Can I pay a tax bill or a fine here?
Not to anyone real. The CRA, the police and utility companies never ask to be paid in bitcoin, so a caller who sends you to a machine for that is a scammer; that is what the red SCAM WARNING sticker on the kiosk is for. Only ever scan a wallet that belongs to you, and see our page on common scams for other warning signs.
Doing the ID check from home means less time at the kiosk, and the fees page has today's fee.
