Look for the big red CENTURY CONVENIENCE letters on the corner unit of the Century Landing plaza, on Century Road in Spruce Grove, the road that runs between Highway 16A and the Yellowhead; you can park right at the door. Once inside, head for the freezer doors: the white Bitcoin4U kiosk stands against the wood-panelled wall there, under a round security mirror. With Canadian bills you can buy Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USD Coin, Solana or XRP. A separate bank machine stands right beside it; the Bitcoin4U kiosk is the one marked NOT A CASH ATM, since you can only put bills in, never take cash out.
Before your first purchase with Bitcoin4U, your phone asks for a photo of your government ID and a selfie, followed by your job, your home address and your cell number. Most people are through in under a minute, and doing it ahead at bitcoin4u.ca/register leaves only the purchase for the store. At the kiosk, tap the screen, let the scanner read the receiving QR code from your own wallet app, insert your bills and confirm the total; the coins go to the wallet you scanned within minutes. Daily limits go up to $40,000.
For Spruce Grove, Stony Plain and Parkland County, this kiosk saves the drive to the Bitcoin4U machine in west Edmonton. The rate is set on the first screen and does not change for the rest of the purchase, and the fees page at bitcoin4u.ca lists today's fee. Your receipt is emailed to the address on your account, never printed; with no address on file, request it at bitcoin4u.ca/receipt. A caller who wants taxes, a fine or a utility bill paid through a Bitcoin machine is a scammer, which is what the red SCAM WARNING sticker just below the screen is about. Questions go to Bitcoin4U, a Canadian cryptocurrency exchange, by phone or email.
