Change the email address on your account
Confirm your cellphone number with a texted code, then confirm your new email address with an emailed code. Your receipts and statements go to the new address from then on.
Change my email address on file
Two short codes: one texted to your cellphone, then one emailed to your new address.
How it works
- Enter the cellphone number on your Bitcoin4U account. We text it a 5-digit code, which proves the number is in your hands.
- Enter your new email address. We email it a 6-digit code, which proves the address is yours and can receive our emails.
- Enter that code and the new address replaces the old one on your Bitcoin4U accounts, online and at our ATMs. If there was an address before, we send it a short notice that it was changed.
Each code works for 10 minutes. A few wrong tries in all - even after switching to a different email address - and you will need to start again from your cellphone number. If a code does not arrive, start again and we will send a new one.
What changes
Your receipts, statements and order emails go to the new address from then on, and it becomes the address we reply to. If you send Interac e-Transfers from your old address, let us know at [email protected] so your deposits are matched to you. Nothing else on your account changes: your ID verification, your limits and your past transactions stay as they are.
When we cannot change it here
We can't change your email address while you have a sale in progress: for 12 hours after you place a sell order, or while the Bitcoin you sent us is waiting for its network confirmation. Your e-Transfer is sent to the address on your account, so this keeps it going to the address you sold with. Try again 12 hours after you placed the order, once any Bitcoin you sent has its confirmation.
Some accounts need a person to look at the change. If this page cannot change your address, or you no longer have the cellphone number on your account, email us at [email protected] and we will help. Changed your cellphone number? Email us as well: the number is your account, so it cannot be changed on this page.
Keep your codes to yourself
Bitcoin4U has no usernames or passwords. Your cellphone number is your account, and these codes are how you prove it, so never share one - we will never ask you for a code by phone or email. If anyone does, read common cryptocurrency scams. Everything you can do this way is on My account, and how we hold your data is in our privacy policy.
