Where can I find my closest Bitcoin ATM in Strathmore?

Days Inn & Suites Strathmore400 Ranch Market, Strathmore, AB, T1P 0B2

A kiosk in the Days Inn lobby

The town's Bitcoin4U machine stands beside the seating area in the hotel lobby at the Days Inn & Suites by Wyndham, on the east side of Strathmore just off Highway 1. The hotel has a large parking lot and a covered drop-off entrance, and it sits beside Ranch Market, the shopping centre anchored by Walmart, Sobeys and RONA, so a grocery or hardware run can end with a purchase of Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USD Coin, Solana or XRP. Bitcoin4U, the Canadian cryptocurrency exchange that runs the kiosk, sends each purchase to the wallet you scan.

Closer than Calgary for much of Wheatland County

Strathmore is the main town for the Wheatland County area and sits about 50 km east of Calgary, roughly 40 minutes by highway, so the kiosk is the nearer choice for people here and in nearby communities such as Carseland, Rockyford, Standard, Hussar and Gleichen. Drivers on the Trans-Canada can make it a short break, and hotel guests can buy before they check out. With bills in hand there is no bank transfer or card involved.

When you are in Calgary anyway, the Calgary machines accept the same verified profile. A guest who arrives short of bills can still buy without leaving the room by placing an Interac e-Transfer order on bitcoin4u.ca.

What do the stickers on the kiosk mean?

  • NOT A CASH ATM: bills go in, nothing comes back out. Buying is all this kiosk does; selling coins is a separate step on our sell page, and the money reaches you by Interac e-Transfer.
  • The crossed-out card: there is no card payment here, only Canadian bills.
  • SCAM WARNING: the red label is there because no tax office, police service or utility collects its bills in bitcoin. If a caller tells you to settle a tax bill, a fine or a power bill at a machine, it is a scam; our page on common scams shows what else to watch for.
  • VERIFY YOUR ID: the QR code under the label opens the one-time identity check on your own phone.

Before you drive over

Get your wallet app installed and opened before the trip, and count out the bills for the amount you want; your own daily limit depends on your verification and tops out at $40,000. Whatever wallet the machine scans is where the coins end up, so scan your own and never a code someone else sent you. If the app is new to you, read about wallets that leave you holding the keys first. You can get verified from home ahead of the trip and read how the fees work before you go.
