Four places to swap cash for cryptocurrency

If you want to buy Bitcoin in Newmarket with cash, Bitcoin4U has four machines in town. Three are on the Leslie Street side: Convenience4u and Good Neighbour Mart Convenience on Leslie Street itself, and Mulock Kitchen Food Fair on Mulock Drive just off it. The fourth is in New Town Variety on Yonge Street. Each one sells Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, USD Coin, Solana and XRP for Canadian bills.

Highway 404 or Yonge Street

The Leslie Street stores are the natural pick if you drive Highway 404, and they draw customers from Aurora, East Gwillimbury, Gormley and Mt Albert. Bogarttown, Stonehaven, Pleasantville and Cedar Valley are close to Mulock Kitchen Food Fair. Over on Yonge Street, New Town Variety is the stop for Armitage and Summerhill Estates. If you live farther east, see the pages for Whitchurch-Stouffville and Mount Albert.

Prefer not to pay with bills? You can buy online with Interac e-Transfer and receive the same coins.

Two things Newmarket buyers ask

Can I sell at a Newmarket machine?

No, all four are buy only and take nothing but Canadian bills, with no debit or credit at the machine. Selling happens online and is paid out by Interac e-Transfer.

What happens the first time I use one?

Expect a one-time ID check on your phone, which usually wraps up in under a minute. Have a wallet app open so the machine can scan its QR code, and bear in mind that daily limits go up to $40,000. Verify before you visit and check the current fee first.
